ACNE JOURNAL: Day 4

Hello Guys!

This is the 4th day since I've been doing my regimen recommended by my dermatologist; the acne bar soap with tretinoin,Clarifying lotion, Clindamycin, and Azaleic Acid ever morning and the soap, clarifying lotion, clindamycin and adapalene gel and doxycycline capsule(after dinner) in the evening. My acne is getting better and I am very happy and thankful with that but I am also wishing that it would go away forever!! *evil laugh bwahahahaha!!! just kidding :)

Okay so here's my face as of today (June 09,2012-saturday)

there isn't so much breakout only a few maybe 3-4 all thats left are angry pimple scars

my left cheek
as you can see here there is no break outs only a few bumps maybe less than 3. But it really pisses me off when I see those pimple scars. Before I was using  Garnier Light Complete  Cream it does the job but you can see it after a week or two and if you put it to your pimple it might get worse. I think thats what happen to me, when a pimple loses its pus and oil, I put it after it popped and so I guess that cream clogs my open pores again and repeat the cycle.

my right cheek. No bumps here only those pesky  scars whose waving everytime I see my reflection grrr
I'll give some facts about the medications I put on my skin and what I take okay :) I did  a little research about everything that I put or before I put on my skin so that I know what to expect.

The Acne bar soap with Tretinoin
- okay first of all, what is Tretinoin? its an acid form of Vitamin A that helps form and maintain healthy skin. It is the main ingredient in many medications used to treat acne.It targets the affected skin to peel which unclogs the pores and helps the skin's oil glands function normally. Also, Tretinoin increases the turnover of skin cells, which helps exfoliate the outer layers of skin that decrease the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. This medication helps control acne but it is not a cure.

REVIEW:
The acne soap does it wonders but it causes my hands to peel too haha! its very effective even if it doesn't give me any burning sensation and I like its very mild sweet smell.

Clarifying Lotion
- I don't know whats it  made of though, it cleans my entire face when I put it in a cotton ball and glide it around my face I saw some oil and dirt. Don't worry, the next time I will see my dermatologist I will ask her :)

Clindamycin Solution
- Clindamycin is used because of its antibiotic properties. It is used to treat serious infections caused by bacteria.Clindamycin also helps the effectiveness of Adapalene gel.Multiple studies have shown the use of clindamycin in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide, which is available both through prescription or over-the-counter, to be more effective in the treatment of acne than the use of either product by itself. A single-blind study comparing this combination to adapalene, a retinoid, also found it to work faster and be significantly better tolerated than adapalene.Clindamycin and adapalene in combination are also more effective than either drug alone, although adverse effects are more frequent;a single study found pretreatment with adapalene (application of adapalene 3–5 minutes before clindamycin) to significantly increase the penetration of clindamycin into the skin, which may enhance efficacy.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clindamycin#Combination_therapy_in_acne)

REVIEW:
- At first, I was like, oh thank you po it didn't sting my face and worried at the same time because I when I don't feel anything I have this mindset that it doesn't do much. But when I saw the cotton ball I was in shocked when I saw more dirt and oil! I was very curious where did it come from and said to myself that don't underestimate the feeling of none ^^,

Azelaic Acid (Dipolex Topical Solution 10%)
- Azelaic Acid fights aerobic and anaerobic bacteria that is found on acne-bearing skin. So, less bacteria=less chances of having more breakouts as said on the product description on the box. Azelaic Acid is a naturally occurring acid. It helps the skin to renew itself more quickly and therefore reduces pimple and blackhead formation. It also helps to kill the bacteria that cause acne and rosacea. Azelaic acid topical (for the skin) is used to treat acne and rosacea.
It may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
REVIEW:
When I see this, I squeal haha because as I apply this on my face its like my face is burning because of too much stinging effect! But there's nothing better than putting your face in front of the fan just to feel temporary relief on the stinging. I don't know why does it sting my entire face but I feel happy when it subsides because I know that my skin's condition will get better.

Differin (Adapalene Gel 0.1%)

- Adapalene expels dirt and oil from your pores and help it unclog itself. Honestly, I was a little scared befrore putting this because I assessed that my bumps will get worse or will be pus-sy as indicated on the pamphlet about Differin that my dermatologist gave me.

REVIEW:

When I saw Cassandra's review from DiamondsandHeels one of my favorite youtuber that has a terrible experience bout Differin but hers was in 0.3% and mine was 0.1% per mg. I was in doubt and scared to put this on my face but then again I realized that even if we share the same skin condition, we might not have the same reaction to the same product. My dermatologist would not probably, prescribe any product that would be harmful to me as her patient.  Moving on, I love the product over all. I was testing it on my bumps before I go to bed and when I woke up the bump was gone! Literally I don't know where did it go. So every morning I'm excited to look at my face knowing that its getting better.

DOXYCYCLINE CAPSULE
- Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic which helps to fight bacteria in the body. It is also used to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, periodontitis (gum disease), and others.Doxycycline is also used to treat blemishes, bumps, and acne-like lesions caused by rosacea but will not treat readness and bumps due to rosacea.

REVIEW:
Capsule is color green. Sorry guys I completely forgot all about this except after dinner. It doesn't have any smell and it tastes like plastic maybe because of the covering but I like biting it gently :) I didn't see the effect but it makes me feel very sleepy after taking one.

I will update after I see my derma this june 16(saturday) I hope there would be no more acnesurgery though I maybe somehow accumulated a phobia when something or someone is near my face

  1. hi bea, thanks so much for the detailed review on these. I've tried differin gel before and it doesn't work on me. The initial reaction I've encountered is my face burn and becomes super red so I stop using after 1 week. Glad that it works on you and your skin is reacting really nice on it. Keep it up! ^_~

  2. Really? If you still have it maybe the Differin is too strong for you my derma told me that if that happens you should put moisturizer before putting Differin :)
